2019 – A Year to be Grateful

Everyone who seeks adventure has to start somewhere. My adventure came after I left my teaching career in the Bronx and took a big leap of faith in moving to Tampa, Florida due to life circumstances. Sometimes a jolt to your world is just what you need to stir a dream alive in your heart.

As a teacher, I used pencils a lot…and I had a lot of them from my classroom that I took with me in our move. I planned on using them in my new classroom. But, due to some health concerns, teaching wasn’t in the cards for me. So, I had to rethink my career. I had to rethink how to apply my skillsets. I had to rethink how to combine my passions. I had to rethink what to do with all these pencils!

That’s when I started to think twice about the purpose of a simple pencil. Looking at these pencils through a new set of eyes, I started to see them less as solely a writing tool, but rather a tool with more potential. A pencil with new forms and shapes; a pencil without lead that still had the power to benefit students and schools. A pencil that could transform into a piece of jewelry as well as transform the lives of students in need. And this change in perspective is what sparked my newest adventure. The idea for ThinkTwyce was born.

Since that moment it has been quite a journey. I am learning more about myself, my business, my customers, and the needs of schools each and every day. And no adventure is worth having if you don’t learn something from the experience. With great learning, comes deep growth. So as I welcome 2020, I can’t help but reflect on what a great year 2019 has been for ThinkTwyce and be grateful for the learning and growth that has occurred.
